Learn More About the Farm

Davis Family Farmhouse Porch

Welcome to the Historic Staton “Pa” Davis, home on one of the state’s oldest farms. This 120+-year-old home has recently been completely restored, preserving much of the original craftsmanship, yet adding modern comfort and features. The home showcases a HUGE wrap-around porch, three large bedrooms, a comfy living area, two bathrooms, a fully stocked kitchen, a grand entryway, an expansive open yard with giant pecan trees, and tons of peace and tranquility. Inside the home, comfortable beds, couches, antiques (most original to the house), historical photographs, artwork and books, plenty of board games, and of course, a checkers board. No TV in the home encourages visitors to disconnect from the modern hustle and bustle and reconnect with each other.

Davis Family Farms was first established on Christmas Eve of 1776 and has remained in the Davis Family as a working farm ever since. As a result, the State of North Carolina recognizes us as a Bicentennial Farm. Unfortunately, there are currently less than 20 farms in the state to be recognized as such. During your stay, you will have ample opportunity to explore the farm, learn about our history, visit our friendly farm animals, taste many fresh vegetables and meats, take in the beautiful country landscape, and relax in a truly peaceful and remote setting. You can even order some of our meats to stock up on during your stay or ask us about our farm-to-table catering options.

While staying at the Staton Davis house, you will experience a feeling like you are in the middle of nowhere. Still, the truth is, we are conveniently located near many towns and attractions: we are Just 40 minutes from Greenville, where you will find East Carolina University and Vidant Medical center; twenty minutes from the farm, you can be in Goldsboro, where you will find a vibrant downtown, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, and our favorite, Wilber’s BBQ; also, 20 minutes away is Wilson, NC, where you will find Barton College, The Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park (www.wilsonwhirligigpark.org), and the world-famous Parker’s BBQ; finally, a quick 55-minute drive will land you in Raleigh, NC, with its numerous attractions; and we are just 15 minutes off I-95.
